I “Joined the Club”, Where’s my T-Shirt?

I bit the bullet. I did some homework on joining various clubs in central Maine, but it boiled down to what’s closest and works for me. Dexter has a small Aero Club, not terribly active, but that can be a good thing when you want to take the plane. They actually have two airplanes, a high-wing Cessna 172 like the trainer I used, and a low-wing Piper Cherokee 140 that I’ll need some lessons in.

I haven’t earned my wings yet, but I have a feeling it’s close and I didn’t want to be waiting around for the club to vote on my membership “next month”. So.. I’m in! Keys in hand.

Yup, that came off one of the club planes... eeks. (note curled ends)

An Even Bigger Bike Gang!

We went a bit further this time than the 5 miles up to North Charleston. We loaded up and all went down to Acadia to ride the Carriage trails. I picked Witch Hole for the ride, seeing as it was labeled ‘Family’.

We handled the 5+ miles and only lost a few to mis-communication.. we all ended up back at the vehicles so I guess it’s all good.

Albert picked up another kart. This one is the straight-forward basic one. Kill switch, pull crank start. 169cc for the small frame pushes it quite well. Good clean fun.

Big ‘Ol Bike Gang

We loaded the bikes and drove up over the big hill in Charleston to go for a bike ride on the other side. It was short lived (about 3 miles) but a good first outing. BudSher and the boys were there to join in on the frills and spills.

I can think of once person that will get that title reference. 10,000 points to anyone else.

Nathan and I went over to the Dexter Airport today. They had a open house (hangar) so we were able to see a few airplanes and meet some of the folks that own them. Considering this could be my home airport soon, I wanted to show my face and rub some elbows.

It was too overcast for airplane rides, but we enjoyed our time there.
