Back to Therapy

Physical Therapy.

I’ve gone and over-worked my shoulder again.  Three years ago I worked it into a big ol’ knot sitting at my desk.  I’ve come to learn that the mouse is mightier than the man. So, its off to PT twice a week for me.  It helps.  But I have to do the exercises and stretches or it’s all pointless.  So, I’m enduring a bit of pain for now until this goes away.  Hopefully it will be knocked out soon.

Call Me a Turkey

I’m not that great a hunter.  In fact, I’m pretty pathetic.  So much, I pretty much have given up.  Twenty plus years of toting a gun of some sort through the woods with less than tens pounds of anything coming out with me (collectively!).  So it doesn’t surprise me when deer show up on my lawn the day after hunting season.  This week it was turkeys, the season was no more than two days away for Juniors (Nathan still has a year to wait) and four days for everyone.  Seven turkeys came within, well, shotgun range of the house this AM.  Probably knowing full and well they were safe around me.  I did get some decent shots off… with the camera.

Climb, Climb up…

Cadillac Mtn.

Jess and I had our first chance to go for a real motorcycle ride this year.  We put 150 miles on the bike by going down to the island (MDI) and driving up Cadillac Mountain.  I climbed it this winter and thought it would be neat to drive up it.  Maybe later this summer, the whole family can hike it!  We stopped in Ellsworth for lunch at The Mex on a recommendation of a friend on the way down.  It was OK.  A bit pricey, but I won’t judge the food/service on one visit.  On the way back, we drove straight through to the house.. it was a long seventy-mile leg, I usually stop every 40-50 miles.  The temps cooled down and we were both ready to unmount that horse when we pulled into the driveway.

Busy Saturday, lets wrap the day up wallpapering

What?  I can honestly say I’ve never wallpapered before. (that I recall).  Continuing with the decorations for Nathans room we gave him for Christmas, Jess wanted to get the last piece in place.  A strip of wallpaper.  I never thought I would ever wallpaper anything in this house.  Some of you know, we live in a log home and the walls are rough pine or bare logs, so you can see why I’d think so.  I added a seven inch strip of door skin to a beam in Nathans room, so that when he no longer wants a Yankee theme, the paper is easily removed.

The wallpaper was pre-pasted, so that trip to the hardware store Jess made was somewhat a waste.  We dipped it in a dish and slapped it on the wall. Done.  That was it.

Just a few more NY's for the room.

You Know You’re Shooting Skeet in Bradford when…

You show up and there are more guns than people!

I was invited over to Bradford for a little skeet shooting fun this weekend.  After spray painting for hours, I ddin’t think my arms and hands would handle the gun or even pull the trigger very well.  I managed.  There was no less than fourteen shooters there and something closer to twenty shotguns to pick from.

It was good clean, cheap and safe entertainment.

Danielson, paint the furniture

It’s suppose to really nice today… what do say, let’s paint Nathan’s furniture. Huh?  I was thinking that riding the motorcycle might be a better choice, but yeah, painting furniture is good too. [sigh]

Five cans of spray paint and two arthritic hands later, we have Yankee blue furniture for Nathans room.

Fielding Practice

We bought Nathan a new bat this year because his bat from last year was too small.  He had one given to him, but that one was still too big.  We’ve all had our turns with it and it seems like it will get the job done.  Jess enjoys a few cracks at the bat and hit Nathan some balls to field.  This will be how are evenings are spent for the next foreseeable future.

Another Foreign Fruit

This time, it really is exotic.  Ecuador.  This is a Pepino Melon.  A little pear taste, but mostly dew melon flavored.  About the size of a baseball.  Can’t say as I’d get it again, the taste soared no where near the $4.00 price.

Party Like its 1986

I sent this picture to my sister, asking her if she lost hers. [smirk]  She had a pair of rollerskates back in the day, and these sorta reminded me of them.  So really, why a photo of the skates?  I’ve been working on a project that required some skate bearings.  I figured to find any locally might be difficult and too costly for my low budget project.  So I found these on a yardsale and now I have sixteen bearings to choose from.

Back in the day, fast food meant it came on skates.
