I Believe I Can Fly!

Okay.  This is the official Blog Post to inform everyone of my newest adventure.

I want to be a pilot.

Since October, I’ve been taking flying lessons.  I only have completed five lessons for a total of 5.5 hours logged, but its a start.  My goal is to become a Private Pilot and fly “for recreation”.  I’d like to complete my training and pass the practical exam within one year from starting, but I have not set any timeline goals.  So that’s it.  I need a minimum of forty hours of practical training and I need to pass a written exam in order to take the practical exam.

I’ve been flying out of Pittsfield (2B7) and have a great Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) from Dexter.  I’m training in a Cessna 172D (1963) aircraft, tail number – N2821U. I’ve been recording my cockpit audio on a small MP3 player and will include clips here and there.  Also, I’ll be “video narrating” highlights from each flight, but don’t expect to have in-flight video for a while yet.  Recently I’ve also been broadcasting my GPS track from the plane (droid does!), so you can watch the track in Google Earth LIVE.  You can use the link in the sidebar to see old lesson tracks and to watch current ones.  I’ll post the video as I have it edited, and you can filter the “Student Pilot” posts by selecting the category in the sidebar also.  The first 5 lessons are already there.

I’m looking forward to this new adventure and hope to someday share my flying with many of you. (I have a small audience [smirk])
